Port Vell is Barcelona's old port at the bottom of La Rambla. It was once an industrial eyesore of warehouses, railyards, and dumps that have been transformed into Maremagnum mall's chic shops and excellent restaurants, movies-on-the-sea, pubs, and a huge aquarium. The Rambla de Mar, a wave-shaped footbridge, rotates to let boats enter the marina (see photo of Maremagnum panorama below). Its major attraction is L'Aquarium, claimed to be Europe's biggest aquarium and has the world's best Mediterranean collection.
