las ramblas
The word Las Ramblas originated from the Arab word "Rambl" meaning stream because it was once the site of a mountain stream. This district is located between Plaça de Catalunya and the port. La Rambla has 5 different "Ramblas" and 2 squares, which is why it is sometimes referred to its plural form "Las Ramblas." Most tourists converge here to be entertained by clowns, human statues, live bands, etc. It is lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants.
